     He was born circa 1786 in Newcastle, IrelandG.1 He was the son of James Grady and Mary Riley.


     He died on 16 January 1866 in O'Connell, AustraliaG.1 He was buried on 19 January 1866 in Brisbane Valley, AustraliaG.1

     He married Margaret Whalan circa 1806 in Newcastle, IrelandG.1 He married Susan Harty in 1860.

Witnessed events

  • He was a witness to Patrick (I) Hanrahan who recorded in his diary that he attended races at "P. Grady" on 2 July 1848.3

Remaining events

  • Patrick wrote to the Colonial Secretary on 24 June 1824. The letter was submitted through the solicitors Thomas & Samuel Hassall. It requested that Patrick's wife Margaret and family of five children (James, Patrick, Mary, Elenor and Jude) be sent out to him. They were living in the New Castle Parish (Clonmell) in County Tipperary, Ireland.2
  • On 6 July 1824 the Colonial Secretary acknowledged receipt of the letter dated 24 June from Patrick Grady.4
  • On 20 March 1827 Patrick Grady received advice, through Thomas and Samuel Hassall, that his wife and children were "in list sent home" - ie their emigration was imminent.2
