Birth

Michael James ("Mick") Brennan was born on 3 March 1843 at Prince's Street, The Rocks, in Sydney.1,2,3,4,5,6 He was baptized on 26 March 1843 at St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney, New South Wales, Australian Colonies. Michael may have been named in honour of the man who baptised him, the Reverend Michael Brennan, who had been ordained in Dublin before arriving in Sydney in 1838. He later served the church in Goulburn (where he built the church), Sydney, Parramatta and Penrith before his death from a stroke in October 1864.3,6

West Bourke is now known as North Bourke.9,23 He sold 2 roods of land to Joseph Lunn on 15 January 1874 at section 4 lot 5, West Bourke+, in Bourke, New South Wales, Australia.23 He recieved section 11 lot 4, Darling Street (the Family Hotel), in Bourke, New South Wales, Australia, from Private James Reed, 80th Regiment of Foot, on 13 August 1875.24 Michael James ("Mick") Brennan sold 2 roods of land to Edward Warmoll (licensed publican of Bourke) on 20 April 1880 at section 11 lot 4, Darling Street (the Family Hotel), in Bourke, New South Wales, Australia. Warmoll sold this land to James Murphy on 18 Aug 1882.25

Death

Michael James ("Mick") Brennan witnessed the death of Frances Eliza Reed on 8 July 1875 at Bourke Hotel in Darling Street in Bourke, New South Wales, Australia.26,27,28 He witnessed the funeral of Frances Heazle .29,30 He died on 9 December 1908 at age 65 in Sydney. The Wagga Worker wrote that "Mick was a genial man and highly respected".31,4,11,5 He was buried on 10 December 1908 at Rookwood Cemetery in Sydney.32
