Involvement in crime

John Murphy was was charged with conspiring with Henry Neale to defeat the ends of justice on 16 October 1866 in Bathurst. The prosecution alleged that they had tried to persuade Dennis Clifford from giving evidence against James Murphy on a charge of saddle setaling. They were supposed to have offered Clifford six pounds inducement. They pleaded not guilty and the verdict was not guilty.3

Death

John Murphy died on 7 February 1929.4 He was buried on 8 September 1929 in Bathurst.5
