Martin Shepherd, 1, was born on 9 October 1699 in Marston Magna. The Parish Register baptismal record actually records his name as "Marlin" but this is likely a misprint since his father's name was Martin. It seems that he had a twin sister Mary who died on the day they were born. Their mother died 6 days later.¹
