Forebears

Family forebears

Our twentieth century forebears were all Australian. Most of their recent forebears came to Australia from the United Kingdom during the nineteenth century. Their ancestors had lived in the United Kingdom for several centuries. Among the recent arrivals, the Carlisle and Gordon families arrived first (on the Experiment in 1804) and the Fleming family was last (on the Eastern Monarch in 1883).

The exception are the forebears of William Isaac Kemp (my GGG-grandfather), who was born in the Central West of NSW in 1830. While his father was English, his maternal ancestors were all Australian aboriginal people whose ancestors had lived on this continent for more than 50,000 years.
