Thomas Jolliffe, 2, and Elizabeth Curry Shepherd lived in Bristol, England, in September 1828.7 He immigrated on 27 July 1857 to Sydney, NSW, Australia. SS "Tartar"||The Passenger List records that all could read and write except the two youngets children, Sarah and Robert. All were C of E. Thomas was a Farm Labourer; Elizabeth a Farm Servant; John was a Farm Labourer; Selina a General House Servant; Ellen was a Nursemaid4,8,9 He lived at Stream Hill in Dapto, NSW, Australia, about 1860.8

Working life

  • On 21 May 1829 Thomas Jolliffe, 2, was a yeoman in Marston Magna.10,11

Death

Thomas Jolliffe, 2, signed a will on 16 November 1867.12 He died on 21 November 1867 at age 57 in Dapto. inflammation of the liver||Thomas' son John estimated (on the Death Certificate) that his father was 57. The Passenger List of the 'Tartar' indicates that he was only 53.
The DC also indictaes that he was survived by 10 living children and one boy predeceased him. This means that three children must have remained behind when the family emigrated in 1857.12,5,8 He was buried on 22 November 1867 at Episcopalian Burial Grounds in Dapto.5,8
