Birth

Emily Jane Johnson was born on 15 October 1879 at Mount Oxley in Bourke.1,2 She was baptized on 27 October 1879 in Bourke, New South Wales, Australian Colonies. In one ceremony on 27 October 1879, Henry Sampson Johnson, his sister Emily Jane Johnson and their first cousin Eliza Emily Tobin Maxwell were all baptised.2

Death

Emily Jane Johnson died from consumption on 1 November 1908 at age 29 in Bourke. On Sunday night last, Miss Emily Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Johnson of North Bourke, died in the Bourke DistrictHospital after a lingering illness, the cause being consumption. Miss Johnson was 29 years of age, and except for the past two years, was a splendid specimen of womanhood. Her death will be deeply regrettedby her many friends and relations, with whom we sympathise in their bereavement. The funeral took place on Monday, the Rev. J. H. S. Oldham ofiiciating at the grave.3,4,5 She was buried on 2 November 1908 at Bourke Cemetery in Bourke. I have a copy of her funeral card.4
