William House and Amelia, wife of William House, were married about 1845. ||2The marriage date of William House and Amelia, widow of James Hope, is deduced from the age of their eldest child, James, who was 8 when they arrived in Sydney on the "Lloyds" in September 1856.[:CIT]1

William House witnessed the immigration of Grace House on 4 September 1856 in Sydney, NSW, Australia. SS "Lloyds"||John & Mary House paid £7/10/- for themselves and their 7 children while John's brother, William, brought his wife (Amelia), 4 step-children and 4 of his own children for £2/10/-. John's entry notes that his brother, Charles, is employed as a gardner by Mrs Thompson, 158 George Street, Sydney.1,3

Working life

  • On 4 September 1853 William House was a farm labourer.1


William House died. He was buried on 3 October 1891 at Glebe (Old St Peters) in Maitland.
