Eliza Emily Tobin ("Lila") Maxwell was born on 11 December 1878 in Gongolgon.1,2 She was baptized on 27 October 1879 in Bourke, New South Wales, Australian Colonies. In one ceremony on 27 October 1879, Henry Sampson Johnson, his sister Emily Jane Johnson and their first cousin Eliza Emily Tobin Maxwell were all baptised.2

Family life

John S ("Jack") McCready and Eliza Emily Tobin ("Lila") Maxwell were married on 12 June 1899 at Presbyterian Church Bourke in Bourke. The church ceremony took place at 6am! There were about 50 people present. The rception was held at the Union Hotel Hall, owned by her aunt Frances Tobin nee Reed.3,4,5
